iStat Menus is a program that monitors the performance of your system and displays accurate statistics on your Menu Bar. This application also provides you with quick access to various Mac default apps, such as Activity Monitor, Terminal, Network Utility, and System Information.
By working with this utility you can monitor the CPU and GPU processor usage, hard drive temperature, network details, and many others. I compared the offered statistics with info gathered from Mac's monitoring apps (like Activity Monitor) and all information provided by iStat Menus was accurate.
Another thing I noticed in my testing was that the program used a very small amount of CPU resources while it was running in my Menu Bar. Other apps of its kind use way more resources while analyzing and updating system info.
What's more, this application enables you to choose which info to display on your Menu Bar. You can also change the order of the system details or even remove them permanently to reclaim space on your Menu Bar.
The one aspect I don't like is that, before you can use this utility, you need to install an additional tool. Nonetheless, you can complete the aforementioned task directly from the app's interface and the installation process takes a very small amount of time to be completed.
Cutting a long story short, iStat Menus proves to be a reliable solution for monitoring system performance. Plus, it comes with a very reasonable cost considering the amount of features it has to offer you.
