HoudahSpot is a program that comes as an alternative to the Spotlight utility, a default Mac tool for searching files.

The main difference between the two applications is that the one that's developed by the Houdah Software company provides you with various search filters and advanced settings which come in handy when looking for certain files on your computer.

Spotlight can be accessed by clicking the magnifier icon from your Menu Bar. The app doesn't bring you any search filters. For this reason, apps like HoudaSpot were developed. The program lets you combine multiple search filters, look for files in certain directories, and sort the found files list according to your needs.

Furthermore, it provides you with detailed information regarding all of the found files. You can also preview images from the result list, reveal the found files in the Finder app, change their tags, and much more.

But the most important advantage of all is that it lets you search various types of files or information. To be more exact, you can search images, videos, fonts, source code, archives, etc.
