File Viewer is a file and folder viewing and analysis application. It's basically a bigger, badder version of Apple's built-in Get Info tool.
The application serves purely as a viewer; it cannot change any of the statistics it provides. To some extent this makes it less powerful than standard Get Info, which provides access to various alterable attributes.
Sam's Protip: FileInfo.com calls itself "the central file extensions registry", but there is nothing official that sets this apart from other quality file extension lookup websites.
Pros
- Provides detailed information on supported media types
- Provides playback capability for audio and video
Cons
- Cannot change any attributes of the selected file
- Lacks some of the statistics provided by the Finder's Get Info tool
