eMaps is an incredibly useful unofficial Google Maps app for the Mac. I don't understand why Google hasn't released something like this yet.

eMaps allows you to access Google Maps from your desktop. Of course, you still need an Internet connection, since eMaps connects to Google Maps for you.

eMaps running on your desktop seems to be way more smoother than running Google Maps on a web browser. I haven't run any speed tests or anything like that, but it feels way faster.

You can do with eMaps pretty much everything you can do on the Google Maps website. You have access to regular maps, satellite and hybrid maps, and physical maps. You can also see maps from the Moon, Mars and the Sky, just in case you ever get lost out there. If you are down in this earth, you get support for traffic overlays, too.

eMaps lets you see Street View wherever it is available and it supports directions. But for Directions, you don't get the actual directions, you simply are shown a line from point A to point B. This is good enough for me in most cases.

All in all, this is an extraordinary tool that gives you unlimited access to Google Maps from your Mac. It is free and it works like a charm.

eMaps is no longer available because Google stopped its access to maps.

A nice, simple application to view maps. I like that it doesn't require a browser to use it.

I really hope they add pinch to zoom and multi-touch gestures. Then it would be perfect.
