Eicon is a utility designed to help you generate icon files. This simple yet helpful program allows you to import images of various formats, lets you choose from various output profiles, and immediately creates the ICNS files that you need without losing any of the input quality in the process.
The application supports popular image formats like JPEG, PNG, PSD, TIFF or GIF, lets you preview the icon before launching the conversion process, and gives you access to a detailed help guide which comes in handy if you're new to this type of utilities.
On the bottom side of the screen there's a scroll bar which lets you select the preferred icon resolution for the output file. After you make your selection, you can click the Save button and choose a destination folder for your icon file. The application will immediately generate the image without slowing down the performance of your computer.
One thing that bothers me is the fact that it doesn't offer you support for batch processing. Another disadvantage is that you cannot export multiple icons of various sizes by using the same input image. To be more exact, you can select only one output format (icon resolution) for the input file and generate a single icon at a time.
