Lightweight program for backing up your documents and pictures online.

  DOWNLOAD

A very lightweight program with its easy-breezy installation, in a few clicks of the mouse you are ready to start backing up your documents and pictures with 2GB available for free web space.

The company also offers 50GB and 100GB options on a subscription basis.

During the installation process, a folder is created on your computer where you can drag and drop the file(s) you want to back up. These files will be marked for uploading and will be uploaded in some time, depending on your bandwidth and bandwidth settings of the program. This folder is accessible through the finder. The System Tools panel has a Dropbox icon for an easy access to either a webpage with your saved files, or a link to the mentioned earlier folder. You can control your settings and access your account here as well.

You can share files with your family and friends using this service. You can dedicate one folder to do exactly that. Also, you can access your online space using some smart phone, which can be super helpful for professionals.

The program authenticates your computer with the server, so I do not think multiple free 2GB accounts are possible for one machine. The software is easy to use and excellently integrated into the system.

Side note: the service is quite expensive. For 100GB Dropbox collects 20 dollars a month. If you, let's say, save 6 months worth of that subscription, you could buy 1TB of external hard drive, which is 10 times greater the space Dropbox offers and faster, and the last 20 you could spent on 80GB of online storage space available for the entire year. The downside of these savings is that you have to do all the work with this little program conveniently doing it for you.
