DiskKeeper Pro is intended to help you recover disk space and preserve your privacy by removing traces of your activities. The application has a compact minimalist interface, which perfectly reflects its workflow: selecting folders, scanning, cleaning and showing the results. It is a shame that some buttons look too flat, just like text captions, so I sometimes found myself clicking here and there to see if anything happened. Fortunately, there is a video guide to teach you the basics.
The tool requires your permission to control your Home and App directories. Luckily, it is an easy step, because you do not need to look for them, as they appear by default. Likewise, you can pick a custom directory you want to scan. The process is quite quick and soon you are asked if you want to proceed to cleaning. Regrettably, the tool does not allow you to decide what data you want to keep or delete, which, for me, is a big downside.
Good news is that you can automate some operations. One of them is routinely purging your system by enabling the “Keep me clean” mode. Similarly, you can go to Settings and activate the integrated uninstaller, which removes any leftovers of an application when it is sent to Trash.
All in all, DiskKeeper Pro can recover storage space, and at the same time, boost speed and preserve your privacy. It is quite convenient that some cleaning activities do not require your intervention. The product can be bought from the Mac Store at a very reasonable price.
