DesktopUtility is a program that sits on your Menu Bar and enables you to run several system actions with just a few clicks. This Mac application provides you with an easy way to hide all icons within your desktop, reveal hidden files, empty the Trash file, and much more.
You can access and run any of the app's system actions by clicking over its Menu Bar icon or using one of the defined global hotkeys (defined within the Preferences menu). Besides completing the aforementioned tasks, this program also offers you a quick way to restart the Dock, the Finder app, and the Menu Bar.
Another aspect I like about this Mac utility is that it allows me to customize the global hotkey settings according to my needs (you can easily define them within the Preferences menu).
In my testing everything worked flawlessly except the Desktop hiding feature. It took a while to hide and reveal the icons from my screen.
To summarize, DesktopUtility is a simple yet efficient application that allows you to run some hidden Mac system actions. The program is very simple to handle, sits quietly on your Menu Bar without using a large amount of CPU resources, and is free of charge.
