Chicken of the VNC is an open-source VNC client for the Mac. It allows you to connect to VNC servers and control other computers using that protocol. Chicken of the VNC is one of the best VNC clients that I could find for the Mac. Back in the day when I was looking for a free solution to connect to Windows workstations, most of the VNC clients that I tried failed to connect because of one reason or the other. Chicken of the VNC worked for me instantly, a few years ago. It is still working as well today. I have had no problem connecting to either Mac or Windows computers.
Chicken of the VNC is a very simple VNC client. The first window that you will see is the login window, where you can quickly input an IP address and a password to initiate a connection. There, you can add as many sites as you want to the site manager for easy access. I found Chicken of the VNC to be quick to connect and responsive all throughout my test sessions.
One of the features that I like about this app is that it allows you to set the refresh rate of your VNC connections. If you set it to its maximum value, it will refresh quickly and let you control other PCs as if you were there. But the interesting fact is that you can set it to manually refresh for those computers that are slow or when your Internet connection isn't the best.
