Cathode

Cathode 2.4

Provides you with text-based access to the operating system.

2.4.1 (See all)

Cathode is a program that comes as an alternative to using Mac's Terminal application for command level programming or operation, thus replacing the use of your mouse and working only with your keyboard for completing system-related tasks. Unlike Mac's default tool, this utility provides you with a wide variety of vintage-looking themes, sound effects, and animations, and many other things.

This application might come in handy to those who wish to spice up the terminal app while accessing the functions of their system in console mode. In the main menu of the program, you will find all of the available settings. Cathode will immediately apply the new changes, without slowing down the performance of your system.

You can choose between multiple vintage-looking themes, change the appearance of the cursor, alter font size and style, enable the sound effects feature, and so much more.

The program can also be used as a word processor. You can export the text content to the TXT format or take a screenshot of the main window and export the image as a PNG file.

The only thing I'd change about this app would be to add support for extra output formats.

Other than that, nothing bad can be said about this program. It looks amazing, works 100%, and comes with a fair price.
