Bye Bye Dashboard allows you to remove the Dashboard. Tests show that the Dashboard uses a siginificant amount of CPU power even when not in use. It has also shown to use a large amount of Internet bandwith. Also in a corporate environment the Dashboard could be come a distraction to employees. Thus Bye Bye Dashboard was made.
The Dashboard is in no way an essential part of OS X, it is simply another application built into OS X. Disabling the Dashboard is in no way a permanent operation. Bye Bye Dashboard also works the other way. It can easily enable the Dashboard in seconds. This Requirements
