Archiver is a compression and decompression utility for the Mac. Its goal is to let you work with archives "the Mac way", meaning easily and fast.

You can tell they took that seriously when you see this app's main window. It is basically a drop-zone, and there's nothing simpler than a drop-zone.

Everything that the application can do can be done with this drop-zone. If you drag and drop any file or folder to the app, Archiver will start to create a new archive for you. By default, it uses ZIP as the format, but it also supports DMG, 7z, TAR and a few more variations of those formats. The next step will be to select whether you want to use a password or not and select the destination folder. Then Archiver will create the archive for you. You can even drag the archive out of the drag-zone multiple times when it is done, to put it in different folders. Extracting an archive is just as easy: you drop it onto the app and then follow the instructions on the screen.

All in all, Archiver works well and it is really easy to use. It supports various formats for archive creation and it can extract most of the popular archive formats, too.
