Alfred is a productivity tool that's more than just an alternative to using Mac's Spotlight for finding and opening apps or files.

With its help, you can also search information online, change system settings, make calculations, run shell commands, and so much more.

This capable utility lives on your Menu Bar from where you can access its Preferences panel and configure its settings according to your needs. You can select a global hotkey for immediately revealing Alfred's search bar, choose which file types to be included in the search process, etc.

Furthermore, you can use the application to immediately adjust system sound volume, shut down your Mac, empty Trash, and other system-related tasks.

The only disadvantage I can find is that many of its features (clipboard tool, iTunes mini player, Contacts integration, etc.) aren't available for testing if you're using the trial version of the app. You can see how they work only after purchasing the program for your Mac. Still, while I used the trial version of the app, I didn't encounter any errors and was very happy with the way Alfred worked.

So, I'd say it's worth giving this program a try if you're looking for an efficient way to boost up your productivity. Alfred is feature-rich, easy-to-use, and affordable.
