Adobe Prelude is a program designed to aid individuals to better organize their video files and edit the metadata content of the respective files. It can be installed through the Adobe Creative Cloud app, and though the steps are simple the process does take several minutes to complete.

The GUI is complex and it has multiple tabs, windows, and toolbars. From the Preferences menu, you can customize the its appearance by changing font colors and themes. To function properly, it requires a high-end system, because the CPU usage can be quite considerable.

When you start to utilize its functions, you notice that it includes an option that lets you annotate media files with notes for the editor. In addition, it lets you create subclips and build a rough-cut assembly to further send it to Premiere Pro for further editing.

Furthermore, it supports HEIF format files, and includes hardware-based encoding and decoding for H264 and HEVC formats. More, it comes with a visual keyboard shortcut editor and audio channel mapping.
