I come from using Shotwell, where every tag/keyword edit you make for a given image is immediately stored in the image file. That way, the keyword edits stay with the file, independent of what app or OS I'm using. Shotwell is also capable of filtering all images in the greater library by keyword; this is very useful.

Yes, XNView MP organizes by keywords and stores/edits keywords in the original image files. Like Shotwell, any tag/keyword edits made for an image are immediately stored in the image file and remain with the file regardless of the application or operating system being used. XNView MP is also capable of filtering all images in the library by keyword, which can be very useful.
I've used XNView on PC for over 10 years. I'm new to using it on MAC. I have folders stored on my iCloud drive that have photos in them that I want to manage and edit. HOW do I find the iCloud folders and the photos in them?
