Wokabulary was created to help Mac users in the process of studying a foreign language and practicing their knowledge.
In my testing, I created a vocabulary database for studying French words (from English to French). You can import word translations from your local folders or add items manually. Sadly, the program doesn't feature a built-in translation feature, so, you'd still need to use your default web browser or other utility to search the meaning of the words you wish to study.
You have access to a search tool that helps you immediately find the word items you need to study, an option to take a quiz, and detailed statistics based on your test results.
What you need to know before installing this tool on your Mac is that it comes with certain limitations, so, it isn't entirely free. Some of its features, such as support for exporting content (only one format supported - CSV) or managing multiple vocabularies, cannot be used unless you make an in-app purchase. However, the price is reasonable and definitely worth it if you enjoy working with this program.
