WinX FLV to iPad Video Converter for Mac - Free Edition was designed to let you convert FLV files so that you can play them on your iPad. To do that, the app encodes your video files using the MPEG-4 and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) codecs for video and the AAC codec for audio. There are six different conversion profiles that you can choose from. All of them are very small resolution profiles. The remaining one is 720p, which could prove useful if you want to convert a file so that you can play it on the TV via the iPad.
In terms of design, this converter's graphical user interface is nothing to call home about. If you have seen the Windows version and liked it, you will feel right at home. They are identical.
In terms of functionality, this is really a bare-bones converter, if you will. It doesn't have a video editor, or any other extra features.
In terms of performance, I am disappointed at this app. I couldn't get it to convert a single file. All the ones that I loaded made the application crash. I understand that all files are not equal, but if a converter can't process a file, it should just put up a warning. A crash is unacceptable. The app also crashed whenever I clicked on the trimmer bar under the video player.
