Nowadays, kids are spending a lot of time in front of their computer or other tech gadgets, such as tablets or smartphones. Watcher offers parents a solution for this issue by helping them monitor the amount of time their children are using the Mac for browsing the web or playing online games.
You can configure the application to block Internet access or prevent kids from launching and using certain Mac programs for any amount of time you like. The utility lets you create a profile for weekdays and allow use for any interval of time you need. Watcher can be configured to play a sound notification once the time limit hits zero.
Furthermore, the program comes with an option to limit disk usage as well. These restrictions apply to all of the computers that are being connected to the same network.
Unfortunately, the application occasionally runs slow and even crashes. Another thing that bothered me while testing this program was the fact that it lacked a built-in help manual. The homepage of the developer also lacks any information regarding the usability of this utility. It took me a while to figure out how to configure its settings.
Taking into consideration the aforementioned disadvantages, I'd say it doesn't worth buying this program for your Mac. You can find applications that are cheaper, easier to configure and provide you with more useful features.
