Video Converter Platinum is intended to convert between video formats. Likewise, it comes with a few handy editing features. The tool supports a wide range of both input and output formats, including resolutions of up to 4K. The application’s interface is very similar to those of other media converters out there, which has the advantage that you do not need much experience to start transcoding files right away.

Good news is the tool can process files in batches, which makes it a time-saving alternative. In this regard, it allows importing files individually or as entire folders. Moreover, it lets you rip DVD contents directly from a disc, a folder or an ISO image file. Still, the list of supported sources would have been more complete if it allowed downloading video and capturing onscreen activity.

As you load clips, you can also preview their contents and take snapshots of your favorite frames. Likewise, if the source video contains multiple audio tracks and subtitle versions, you can pick those you want to keep.

Even though it is possible to start converting video without editing the contents, you may also want to make a few changes. Good news is that the tool allows trimming a video segment and joining various clips. It is shame that zooming the timeline is not allowed, and, as a result, trimming at exactly the desired frames can be difficult. Other operations include cropping and rotating the frame, adding watermarks and adjusting screen parameters, such as brightness, contrast, saturation and hue. Finally, it is possible to enhance video quality by upscaling resolution, optimizing brightness and contrast, removing video noise as well as reducing shaking.

Fortunately, the tool does not make it difficult to decide on an output format. In this regard, there is a very long list of target profiles, organized according to their purposes, types and devices, which minimizes incompatibility issues. Additionally, you can customize profiles by adjusting specific parameters, like video bitrate, frame rate, resolution, aspect ratio, sample rate and channels.

All in all, Video Converter Platinum lets you play the desired videos on a wider range of devices, including portable ones. For instance, it may come in handy if you want to watch a DVD movie on an iPad. The product can be purchased from the Mac App Store, but there is also a trial version downloadable from the developer’s site.
