Tetris Zone is a world-famous puzzle game for the Mac. It is also available for Windows. The game features four Tetris modes: Marathon, Challenge, Sprint and Master. The first one is the closest one to the classic mode. Here, you play the game until you make it to level 15 or until you lose. It gets faster and faster and the pieces that you'd prefer come less often. The second mode, Challenge, gives you a time limit of 10 minutes and you have to make it as far as you can in that time. Then Sprint is a race to clear 40 lines in as little time as possible. The last mode, Master, sends pieces flying down really fast, so you don't have much time to think.
I played the Marathon game in the trial version of this game. It was very entertaining and I have to say that the game is as addictive as its first versions. The music has been remixed but it is very similar to the classic Tetris music. It sounds more modern, with hints of Techno music here and there. The trial version only let me play past level 3, so I can't say much about difficulty.
I like that the game shows a shadow of the active piece at the bottom of the screen, which lets you calculate where it is going to fall. This allows you to play only looking at the bottom of the screen. It changes the game a bit, but in a good way, I think.
