SpotFiles is a handy application designed to help you find files stored on your computer by using advanced searching criteria.

The utility's greatest asset resides in the ability to locate files that are difficult to identify via common computer browsing.

The program installs as a small icon placed on the system upper bar. Using this app is really easy and intuitive. A click on the tool's icon drops down the SpotFiles search options. They are quite comprehensive – namely, you can identify a file by its name, size, file type, date of creation or modification, and tags. What is great about this tool is that each searching module opens secondary searching criteria that allow you to perform a more or less complex search.

For instance, the Name module allows file detection by inserting a word that the original file name contains. If you remember the position of that word within the file name, you may narrow the search for more accurate results. The size can be another reliable searching criterion – you are able to select the minimum and the maximum size values of the file you want to find along with a size unit for reference. The search engine includes temporal criteria that allow you to identify a file by the time when it was created or modified. In addition, you can look for specific file types by reducing the search area to images, documents, video, and audio files. Furthermore, you have the ability to identify a file that you previously tagged by selecting the color assigned when saving it.

In short, SpotFiles is great for searching files that otherwise are difficult to locate. You can enable multiple search criteria, thus making it almost impossible not to identify the file you are looking for. In addition, if you have a clue about the file's location, you can limit the search to a specific drive or folder.
