This program is exactly what its name suggests: a utility for downloading content from the SoundCloud website. The application comes with easy-to-configure settings and a user-friendly interface, uses minimum CPU resources, and provides you with quality output files.
All you need to do is to paste the SoundCloud URL for the song you wish to download and the app will take care of the rest.
In my testing, the program worked flawlessly. It immediately downloaded the indicated music file, without slowing down my Mac in the process. In addition, the quality of the original music was preserved.
Also, you can get direct access to a page from where you can install a browser plugin created by the same developer. After installation, a new "Download" button will be added next to the song you're playing in the SoundCloud page. Click the button and SoundCloud Downloader will immediately launch and start fetching the file. So, you'd no longer need to paste URLs in the app's interface.
Unfortunately, the app lets you export the downloaded content to only one format (MP3) and lacks output settings (for example, select the preferred sample rate, bit rate, etc.).
Still, this program is one of the best SoundCloud downloaders designed for Mac. It's efficient, easy-to-use, and free. I'd say it's worth a try.
