Sonic Visualiser is a capable application designed to help Mac users analyze and study audio files on their computers.

This program works with a wide variety of audio formats, provides you with accurate core waveform and spectrogram representation of your sound tracks, and allows you to export portions of the analyzed audio file.

After you select the sound file you wish to analyze, the application immediately displays the waveform representation of the audio file. You can play, pause, and resume the musical recording, select regions of the file for study, speed up or slow down playback, and much more.

I like the fact that you can save the study session (to a SV file) in case you wish to re-analyze it later. Furthermore, you can extract portions of the input sound tracks and export them to WAV format, save audio data to CSV files, and much more.

The only thing that didn't work at all while testing this application was audio data export option. To be more exact, I selected a region of the input file and clicked the Export Audio Data button (from the main menu of the app); even though I opted for TXT output format, the program exported the audio data to a CSV file.

As for the rest, Sonic Visualiser proves to be a reliable solution for analyzing audio files on your Mac, but only if you have experience in handling audio study utilities. Even though the app comes with an intuitive interface, it brings several options and operations that might seem difficult to handle to inexperienced users.
