Smart Converter is a free utility that enables you to convert your favorite videos to multiple media formats. The available output profiles are compatible with a wide variety of media devices, such as iPhones, Android tablets, Apple TVs, iPods, PlayStation 3, and many others. Hence, it helps you get rid of incompatibility issues between your movies and your media gadgets.
The program works with a wide variety of video formats, supports drag-and-drop actions, and immediately generates the quality output files you need. Furthermore, it uses minimum CPU resources while converting your videos.
Another important advantage is that it provides you with a simple and quick way to extract audio content from movies. This feature comes in handy if you want to take out a soundtrack from a video and save it as a MP3, WAV, OGG or AAC file to your local folders.
Once the conversion process is complete, the file is saved in a folder (/Users/username/Movies/SmartConverter) and automatically imported to your iTunes library. Unfortunately, there's no option for changing the destination folder for the output files.
Another thing that bothers me is that the app lacks editing options. Other media converters offer you the ability to trim or crop clips, attach subtitles to movies, watermark videos, etc. Also, it doesn't offer you support for batch conversion.
Still, the application is free of charge and offers you high-quality results. So, you have nothing to lose if you decide to give this program a try on your Mac.
