Significator for iTunes is a great way of controlling your media playback. The app sits in your menu bar and when you click on its icon, a window will pop-up where it becomes rather easy to control iTunes. If iTunes is closed when you launch Significator, the app will let you launch it automatically. Once iTunes is running, Significator has access to all your songs and playlists, and you can start playback by browsing them from a small window. There is also a search box that becomes very useful when you have a large library.

When a song is playing, you can click on the menubar icon to see the name of the artist, song, and album and control playback. There are buttons to pause the song, and go to the next or previous song. You can also enable shuffle and repeat and adjust the volume from up there. When a song has album art, it will be displayed along with its information.

Significator for iTunes has good hotkey support. All of the features that you can access by clicking can be also accessed with hotkeys. They are customizable as well, so you can pick your favorite ones.

To sum up, Significator for iTunes is a great free tool for any iTunes user. Most of its features can be accessed with any Mac keyboard, but the freedom to control iTunes from the menubar without switching your current application is a very nice feature to have.
