SelfControl is a Mac application designed to help you stay focused on your work and block your own access to distracting websites. This program might come in handy during busy work days when it's important to concentrate on your tasks and ignore social networking webpages or other recreational sites.
The app lets you create a list containing the websites that can distract you from your chores and select the preferred amount of time for blocking any access. Afterwards, you can click the Start button from the main window of the tool and the program will do the rest.
The thing I like the most about SelfControl is the fact that it prevents you from accessing any of the blocked webpages even if the app is shut down or uninstalled from your Mac PC.
The only extra feature I would like to see in this application is an option to enter a site blocking time frame with my keyboard (you can only move a slider).
To conclude, SelfControl proves to be a reliable solution when it comes to working in a distraction-free environment. This program is very simple to handle, brings easy to configure site blocking settings, and is free of charge.
