Scrambler is a small Mac app that helps you password-protect private files and folders to prevent unauthorized users from accessing them.

Novice or professional, you can easily handle this encryption tool and get the output you need with minimum effort.

The application sits quietly on your Menu Bar from where you can adjust its settings according to your needs. As soon as you finish configuring the preferences, you can start encrypting files; just drag-and-drop the file or folder over the Menu Bar icon, enter the access password, and the program will do the rest.

Also, in case you wish to decrypt the processed file so that any user can access it, just drag the encrypted file over the Menu Bar and that's it.

Unfortunately, there's an important disadvantage of using this application: unauthorized users can delete the encrypted files or move them to other folder location without entering the access password. To me, this aspect is extremely important since I prefer to be the only one being able to manage the encrypted files.

Considering the aforementioned flaw, it's safe to say you can find more efficient solutions for encrypting private files.

  • Easy-to-use
  • Supports drag-and-drop action
