RealBean is a powerful audio/video converter and editing tool. If you do not have enough money for iLife or your Apple is old, then you should consider this alternative.
The program supports a wide range of multimedia codecs. Almost anything, including videos from DVDs, can be imported into the program. Those videos can be converted into a number of video formats and audio can be extracted, if you wish so. There are video conversion presets already available, so you do not have to mess with the settings. However, trial version of this program won't let you split, join, nor convert your video source.
There are comprehensive audio and video controls available. One feature that is great is taking snapshot within the video file. You can use that snapshot to decorate your wallpaper, your DVD cover or create an album out of those shots.
The program's interface is pretty easy going and very intuitive. There aren't too many settings, so you won't get too confused. In fact, this is a good alternative to iMovie. If you do not need to edit or convert any videos, you can use this program as a player, which works pretty good.
