OCR App lets you convert scanned document pages into text-based formats, such as PDF, TXT, SVG and DOCX.

In this respect, the tool uses OCR technology to identify letters in the image. The application has a very simple workflow composed of a few steps: importing an image, selecting the area, applying OCR and exporting the resulting documents.

The application has a straightforward minimalistic interface. There is a large area where you can preview the original image or photo. There is also the upper toolbar in which buttons are conveniently arranged according to the steps in the workflow. Then, a panel on the bottom part shows the resulting text after the OCR is applied.

OCR App comes with various features that facilitate getting more accurate results. For instance, it supports recognizing various target languages (English, Spanish, French, German and Italian). Likewise, it can automatically deskew a text, invert colors and rotate images. Likewise, you can configure the tool to perform two passes.

In general, OCR App produces rather accurate results, in spite of the fact that it is not included in the list of best OCR technologies. Regrettably, it does not support processing batches of images, which could boost your productivity when applying OCR to a whole book, for instance. The product is free and is actually a showcase for other developers wanting to use their technology.
