If you intend to travel to a foreign country where you know little about its language, it's important to have a dictionary at hand. mLexicon is a program designed for Mac that provides you with an alternative to searching English words translations within an actual dictionary. Instead, you install the app on your computer and immediately have access to the needed translation.
The utility provides you with a straightforward interface, an integrated search tool, and an option to change the destination language. You can resize the main window of the app according to your needs and hide the toolbar from the program's screen.
You can use the search tool to find the correct translation to the selected language (German, French, Finnish, Italian or Spanish). The program allows you to copy the results to clipboard and add new terms to mLexicon's records.
Every option within mLexicon worked except one: the speech button (it should play the pronunciation of the translated word). Another thing I didn't like was the fact that it let me choose only among 5 output languages (languages like Chinese, Russian or Arabic are not supported).
All in all, mLexicon is a program that comes without a price tag and offers you the information you need within seconds. What's more, you don't need an Internet connection in order to search word translations and you can use the app while you're on the way to a new tourist location.
