Mighty Monitor is a rather simple Dashboard widget. It displays the battery level on a variety of Apple devices.

Some of the supported devices are the Magic Mouse, the Mighty Mouse and the Apple Wireless Keyboard (Bluetooth). If you have any of those devices connected to your Mac, the widget will display a meter that will show you how much battery left those devices have. If you are using third-party input devices, the widget will still work, but the meter will not show any useful information.

Installing this widget is really easy. I did my testing of it on Mac OS X Lion, and all I had to do is double click on the downloaded file and select a position for the widget on my Dashboard. After that, the widget showed two meters, one for the keyboard and one for the mouse. However, I have a wired, USB keyboard and a Logitech mouse. The meters for them both stayed static at the middle. The keyboard shouldn't really have a meter, since it doesn't have a battery.

In short, in my case, the widget was not worth having, because I don't have any wireless Apple devices. If you do, try to download this and see if it works for you. The program was last updated in October 2010, so many new Apple devices might not be supported.

Pros

  • Small
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • It won't recognize non-Apple devices and it recognizes and displays battery info for some USB devices
