MacX Free DVD to AVI Converter for Mac is a free DVD ripper. Although the name of the application suggests that it can only convert movies into AVI files, it can actually also convert your DVD movies into MP4 files as well.
This DVD ripper lets you load DVD movies from discs or from folders on your hard drive. Once the movie is loaded, you will see a list of DVD titles displayed on the screen. The app will automatically select the longest title, which is often the main movie title. If what you want to do is only to rip the movie, you can go ahead and change the conversion settings right after you load the DVD. But if you want to rip extra scenes or features, you can check additional DVD titles and they will also be converted.
At the bottom of the screen, you will find three different tabs. There is one that selects AVI as the output format, another for MP4 and the last one, for MP3. This last tab can be used to rip the audio from your DVD movie and discard the video track.
