Info updated on:

iTool iPod Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It can be used to convert video files of different formats into files that can be played on different models of iPods. The application can convert files to MPEG-4 and MPEG-4 AVC (or H.264). All of the Apple devices will play those files without any problems, and so will many other mobile multimedia playback devices.

iTool iPod Video Converter uses six different conversion profiles. Although the application doesn't tell you for what devices those profiles are optimized, the icons on the left of each profile seem to suggest that two of the profiles are for the iPod Touch lineup and the remaining 4 are for the classic iPods. If you look at the resolutions used, though, you will see that even those with the iPod Classic icon use resolutions of 640x480, which are better for the Touch than for the Classic.

The application works well, and it didn't show any problems converting MKV files to MPEG-4 AVC. It should open most popular video formats with no problems. This converter is missing some features that come standard in other commercial converters, like a video editor and GPU acceleration.
