Info updated on:

iSmartPhoto is intended for browsing and organizing your picture files. The tool supports practically any picture format, including JPEG, TIFF, JPEG 2000, BMP, PNG, TAG, RAW and EPS. Regrettably, the application does not seem to properly import iPhoto libraries.

The application has an easy-to-use interface. In this respect, there is a panel on the left, which allows you to browse your folders in a tree-like fashion. Additionally, you can explore your images based on groups according to such data as their creation date, size, location and rating. The panel on the center shows the thumbnails of the pictures contained in the currently selected folder. Moreover, by choosing a specific thumbnail, you can see the file properties in the right panel, including type, size, resolution and color model.

You can also view the desired image together with more specific metadata, like EXIF, TIFF and IPTC. This way, it is possible to know, for instance, the camera model used to take the photo, the focal length, the exposure time and the aperture value. Likewise, you can switch to slideshow view to browse through several photos as a sequence, including transitions between them.

Good news is that iSmartPhoto allows tagging and rating your photos. It is also good that you can use it to rename batches of files. Likewise, it lets you rotate photos both manually and automatically according to EXIF orientation. Its grouping feature facilitates finding duplicate images. However, it is a pity that it cannot find duplicates automatically. Finally, I am sure you will appreciate the possibility of converting image batches to a different format as well as sharing them on various social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

All in all, iSmartPhoto is a great choice for browsing large collections of pictures. It supports multiple formats and allows grouping images based on their properties. The product can be purchased from the Mac App Store at a reasonable price.
