What's new

v4.8 [Dec 18, 2021]
- Reduced chance of conflict over ownership of image files in Finder
- Added 90º snapping when rotating overlays in the design view (overridden when holding the Option key)
- Improvements to behaviour when scaling of rotated Overlays
- Updated the trial library for new customers with an overlay set of photo corners and some other newer designs
Existing customers can download Photo Corners overlays from our site and import them in the application
- Renamed Stickers to Overlays, in the application and in the manual
- Allowing scaling Text Overlays to smaller sizes (down to 0.5% value)
- Renamed "Overlays" panel to "Overlay Settings" to be more consistent and other UI improvements
- When a new design window appears, it will now display the Templates panel on the left sidebar more consistently

v4.1 [Jul 22, 2017]
- New Feature: Hide and show layers from the filmstrip by clicking on the “eye” in the layer icon.
- New Feature: Lightroom plugin shows a combo box for template name, to choose from a list, in addition to typing.
- Bug fix: Lightroom plugin didn’t handle paths with apostrophe.

v4.0 [Feb 28, 2017]
- Snapping of text and image Overlays to the edge or the center of the design with ease.
- New “Scale” control to full-frame frame types. This allows some frames, like those with a small opening in the middle, to be more useful.
- Design option to save framed images with their external shadow intact.
- ImageFramer Library panel adds a “Recent” tab, which lists frames that were either recently used by design, or edited in Frame Editor, or imported. A real time-saver.
- ImageFramer “Recent” and “Favorite” tabs in the Library panel now contain a “Show in Library” pop-up menu item to quickly navigate to the frame in the “All” tab.
- ImageFramer “Library” panel can now filter frames in the current list by their name.
- ImageFramer “View” menu saves preferred presentation settings (background colors and zoom). These settings will be used for all new windows and be quickly restored.
- Sharing extension to open images in ImageFramer from any application that allows sharing. Should be enabled first, from a More… action of a Share panel or from Extensions System Preference.
- A “Welcome to ImageFramer” screen.
- A new set of default frames.
- A new set of default templates.
- Added “Duplicate As Mask” command in Frame Editor.
- Added A4 and Letter paper sizes to Aspect Ratio list.
- Allow saving opened images in-place with Save. Helps with editing from external tools like Lightroom and is more conforming to the expected behavior for macOS applications.
- Support saving to PSD (Adobe Photoshop) images. Saves a simple PSD image, no layers or effects. (Please take necessary precautions if you open a PSD image in ImageFramer and save over it.)
- In Text Overlays, background color automatically adjusts based on the color of the text to keep it visible. No need to manually toggle between light and dark backgrounds now.
- Changing the text color is now simpler, with a new dedicated Color button right by the text field.
- We’ve added “Page Size” and “Copies” to the Print dialog.
- The images used in image overlays are now embedded within their design templates. No need to keep the original image.
- Templates in the Templates panel are now sorted by name. This allows you to find them easily and better manage their order by adding prefixes to names.
- Removing, adding and renaming of Templates in the Templates panel can now be undone via the Edit menu (or Command-Z).
- Layer-strip icon for text layer will now use the same background color as the text field, providing better contrast.
- Mouse Scroll-wheel (or two-finger up/down swipe) resizing of frame layers will now work for the currently selected layer in the strip, (instead of the layer under the cursor) making scrolling work more predictably.
- Molding frame layers now add a new attribute in Frame Editor called “Mirror images.” This allows for easier creation of repeatable frame patterns by “mirroring” the image of the frame on each subsequent repetition, forcing the edges to align. For some frame types (like wooden and other textures) it saves you from having to spend a lot of extra time in a graphics editor working out the frame graphics by hand. Mirror images can also keep the graphics file size smaller, saving space and memory.
- Color Mat layers will display actual colors of the mat in the filmstrip, instead of their original color in the Library, if the latter was modified.
- Cancel eye-dropper with Escape key.
- UI refreshments.

v3.1 [Dec 27, 2010]
* Free version now doesn't overlay the image with a watermark! Please review the application again, if this was your main negative point of ImageFramer).
* Free version can no longer add text or image-based watermark layers. It's now part of the Standard features (in-app purchase)
* Add a "Get more frames" icon to the library of the Free version.
* In-app purchase dialog now has screenshots of the additional features (watermark layers and frame editor).
* There are now over 600 frames available as part of the Standard features set and additional 400 frames in the Pro.
* Ability to reset library update mechanism to force frame library reloading.
* Some bug fixes that could cause crashes
* Customers who unlocked Standard or Pro features previously should see no change in this version whatsoever, except of the library update reset functionality and the bug fixes.
