Image-to-Word-Free is a straightforward and easy-to-use application designed to convert popular image files into Word documents. The tool uses the well-known OCR technology, which recognizes texts and tables in the source images and converts them into Word files.
The program's interface won't impress you too much – it seems that it has been built mainly with a functional purpose at the expense of attractiveness. Therefore, the appearance is just plain simple, consisting of an input panel and a preview area that allows you to take a quick glance at the source images in a thumbnail size. If you consider that this small-sized preview isn't enough to check whether you have imported the right files or not, you can double-click on the images and they will expand into a new window. You have the ability to load multiple images at once and convert them in one session. As a result, you will obtain as many Word documents as images you have imported, since the utility isn't capable of merging the input files into one large editable Word file. Furthermore, the conversion output is limited to the DOC and DOCX formats, as other extensions, like .docm and .rtf, aren't supported.
Without a Preferences window, the application lacks advanced conversion options. In addition, if you close the program by accident, all the information will be lost completely – you will face an empty input panel, without being able to reload the previous project. more
