Image Cleaner helps you recover storage space by finding and removing duplicate picture files. Unlike other scanners, which compare files based on their sizes and names, Image Cleaner bases its results on the similarities between their contents. Luckily, the tool supports a wide array of picture formats, and even some video extensions as well.
The application’s interface is very user friendly. It is good you do not need to scan the entire drive; instead, you can select specific folders. Likewise, you can set filters to omit files that do not meet certain conditions, such as specific file size range and format. Additionally, it is possible to adjust the level of sensitivity of the scanning algorithm, which is based on image similarity. Finally, you may decide what to do with the duplicates: remove them permanently or send them to Trash.
Depending on the number of images in the selected folders and the sensitivity level chosen, the scan may take more or less time. Once the results are ready, the application shows the list of duplicates and allows you to preview their contents in case you want to make a manual selection. Another possibility is to trust the application’s automatic cleaning feature. For instance, you can tell the tool to keep the smallest or the largest file in each set of duplicates.
Although the use of this tool is quite convenient, it is not free from drawbacks. For instance, you may complain about it taking too long to load images in the preview screen. Similarly, it seems to use a great deal of system resources to perform the scan. more
