Info updated on:

Download multiple files and organize them as you grab data from the web. Add, remove, pause and suspend downloads while monitoring the progress of copying files, archived, and folders from the original storage. Pause and resume broken downloads, customize queues, etc.

iGetter is a shareware download manager for the Mac. It has quite a few different features that make downloading files a faster and safer task. For example, the application uses segmented downloading, which is said to accelerate the speeds of downloads. It can also resume broken downloads, and it gives you the ability to pause any download and resume at a later time. Even though this app doesn't have a virus scan built-in, it can be configured to use an antivirus software to check your files after they are scanned.

iGetter supports HTTP and FTP protocols (HTTPS and FTP over SSL, as well). It has a Site Explorer that can be used to browse an entire FTP website, so it also doubles as an FTP client.

This download manager can monitor the clipboard to add new download jobs, but the feature that makes most sense is web browser integration. This allows you to replace your browsers' default download manager with iGetter. In other words, when you download something using your web browser, it will be downloaded by iGetter, if you chose to activate web browser integration. I like that downloads can be set to start automatically and that iGetter will open the downloaded files as soon as they are downloaded.
