GeoSonix is a free open source graphical music composition environment. With it you create 2D or 3D "scores" that GeoSonix "plays" sending MIDI (or OSC) messages to synths of your choice.
The app includes built-in harmony and rhythm processors, and it can interpret bitmap images into MIDI tunes, and many others.
GeoSonix works smoothly with a vast range of available MIDI synths and composition environments. It includes many MIDI based example scores and score-generating scripts.
