FrostWire is a free, multi-platform BitTorrent client. It allows you to search for content on several BitTorrent search engines and share your files with other users. This app is open-source and free, and the developers guarantee that it won't be packaged with spyware or adware.
FrostWire has been recently updated with a new interface and it sports several new features like support for magnet links, full compatibility with iTunes, chat rooms and Internet radio support.
FrostWire can be used to download anything that is shared via a torrent and it is also really easy to share data with it, as well. To share a file or folder, all you have to do is to click on the File menu (at the top of the screen), and select "Send File or Folder". Then you can select what you want to share and click on "OK". FrostWire will then give you some instructions on how to complete the sharing of the file. For example, it will let you Tweet the link to the torrent or the magnet link, or copy it to the clipboard.
By default, FrostWire looks for content on several torrent search websites, including ISOHunt, KAT and ExtraTorrent.
In my testing, I downloaded a few random files that I found via the search feature. Some of those files I was able to play with the built-in media player. They played well, but I noticed that whenever I played a song, a second FrostWire icon started jumping on my Dock, and it went away when the song finished. This might be a bug. It didn't bother me much, but I thought it was funny. Overall, I am satisfied with download speeds and the search results that I got.
