Free Power Video Converter is a handy application that helps you convert between media formats. Although the name of the program may give you the impression that the array of supported files is limited to video formats, actually the utility also lets you convert between different types of audio files.
The program opens with a primary wizard-like interface that informs you about the steps to follow in the conversion process. In addition, it advertises a series of related apps created by the same developer. Once the files are imported, either by drag-and-drop or by browsing your computer, a secondary window is displayed. Its appearance is simple and uncluttered – on the right side, you will find the files meant to be converted, while the preview panel takes the left part of the window. In the Preferences dialog, you can set the maximum number of tasks to be run at a time, the destination folder, and whether the new file will be saved under a different name or if it will overwrite the original. The tool allows you to add subtitles to movie files, as well as change the audio of those files that support this feature. Once all the settings are done, you just need to select the output format and enable the conversion. The target profiles can be easily selected either by video and audio format, or, more conveniently, by device name. The converted items will be saved either as separate files or as a single file, if the merge function has been enabled.
