DropDMG is a simple to use Mac program that lets you create, convert, and burn DMG files with ease. Being the one archive format available for Mac that doesn't require a third-party application in order to manage its compressed files, DMG is a good format solution for backing up or sharing files via the Internet.
Before selecting the files, folders or disks for back up, I suggest you to configure the program's settings according to your needs. From the Preferences menu you can choose the output format and destination folder for the created archive file and select the proper encryption mode.
An important advantage of using this application is that it supports a wide range of output profiles alongside the DMG format, such as SPARSEBUNDLE, TAR, ZIP, ISO, CDR, and much more.
The one thing you need to consider before acquiring DropDMG is that it might take a while to process larger folders or disks. I recommend you to install the trial version for this program and see if it's an issue; if not, I can't find any other reasons why you shouldn't give this application a try.
