Diamond Swap is an original arcade game for the Mac. The objective of the game is to match three or more pieces of the same color to make them disappear from the screen. This is not the original part of the game. What is new is that instead of simply clicking on the pieces to move them, you need to rotate a small diamond which contains four little diamonds inside of it. All of these diamonds are housed into a bigger diamond, which you cannot rotate. You can use the X and Y keys to rotate them left or right and the mouse to select the diamonds that you want to manipulate.
There is a timer that runs down from 1 minute and 30 seconds. When you remove 4 or more pieces from the board, you will get a multiplier, which will both give you more points for removing pieces of the same color from the board and add time to the timer. In theory, if you are good enough, you will be able to play for a long time.
The gameplay is similar to other games of the genre, but it becomes more challenging because you have to analyse the movements in a different way. It took me a while to get used to how the diamonds moved, but after a while, I was really enjoying the game.
Unfortunately, Diamond Swap can only be installed on Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8).
