DB-Text 1.10

General use tool to open and edit data in text format on OS X, the most used way to distribute data organized by rows and columns.

DB-Text is intended for opening and editing data files in CSV and TSV formats. In this regard, the application can import data from text files, in such patterns as tab, comma and semicolon-separated values. It also supports practically every encoding, so there is no problem with opening files originally created in Windows. The tool can recognize most of these formats without user intervention.

DB-Text has a simple-to-use interface. It has two main buttons with unmistakable functions: import and export text. Besides, it supports basic drag-and-drop operations. It can organize the imported data into columns and rows, which play the role of fields and records. But, before that, as it supports browsing all the data, you can select what to import, with the possibility of specifying the destination fields or even create new columns. Sometimes, data files use the first row to name the corresponding fields, in such cases, it is possible to create automatic headers from the text stored in that line.

Not only can the data be viewed but also manipulated. It is great that you can merge by importing various files with the possibility of choosing where to insert the new records. Moreover, the data can be edited, sorted and filtered quite easily. What is more, you can create or eliminate fields and records with a click of a button. Fortunately, you do not need to worry about losing your work since the application supports automatic saving.

Once you have made all the intended changes, you can proceed to save them. One of the simplest ways to do so is by copying data to the clipboard, not only that, you can pick a copying format from CSV, TSV and HTML. In addition, there is the possibility to select what fields to export and the order to do so. The good news is that the tool can export in not only native format, CSV, TSV and HTML but also in any user-defined format using customized field and record separators.

All in all, DB-Text is a lightweight solution for importing, manipulating, exporting and converting databases in various text-based formats. Regrettably, although it supports managing huge databases, navigating through them may become somewhat slow, but that also depends on your machine's capabilities.
