Clone2go DVD to iPhone Converter combines both a DVD ripper and a video converter. You can use them to convert your DVD movies or other video files so that you can play them on your iPhone. The iPhone is not the only device supported. There are also conversion profiles for devices like the iPad, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP, Android smartphones, and quite a few more.
This application has an original graphical user interface, and for that it gets extra points. It consists of two panes and a toolbar at the bottom. The pane on the left is where your loaded files or DVD titles will be listed. On the right, you will find the conversion settings and a video player. There aren't many settings to change. You can set the start and end time for your video, rotate or flip your video, select the subtitle and audio tracks and choose one of the formats or conversion profiles. The supported output formats are AVI, H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG, 3GP, MOV, SWF and FLV.
By default, when the application is done converting a video or ripping a DVD movie, it will add it to iTunes so that it is easier for you to put the file on your iPhone. This can be changed from the Preferences window.
In my testing, I ripped a DVD title and converted it using the iPhone 4/4S H.264 HD Video profile and then I converted an MKV file into H.264. Both tasks were complete without any problems. The resulting files played well on my iPhone 4.
Users who frequent YouTube.com will be happy to know that this app comes with a video downloader that works quite well and even supports HD downloads.
