FLAC MP3 Converter is a handy application that allows you to convert media files into some popular audio formats. This way, you will be able to extract the audio from your favorite video clips, so that you can enjoy the music you like on various audio players or portable devices.
The program's interface is modern and attractive, with nice colors featuring light-blue hues for a more comfortable view. The conversion process follows the standard procedure. First, you need to load the files meant to be converted into audio files. The utility supports adding both separate and multiple files at once, as well as entire folders of files for batch conversion. When browsing for files to import, you will see, at a glance, which items can be loaded, since incompatible files are colored in grey and cannot be selected. It seems that the range of supported formats is not very extensive. For instance, I wasn't able to load MP4 video files, although this format is one of the most popular in its class.
The program comes with an embedded video and audio player that lets you preview the source files. Before enabling the conversion, you have the chance to tailor sensitive audio settings, like the sample, the bit rate, the encoder, and the channel. Once all adjustments are done, you just need to select the output format. The Profile dialog box gives you the impression that the application was designed to support both FLAC MP3 Converter and all other related software programs created by the same developer. Therefore, the utility displays a wide range of output profiles structured into multiple categories, but most of them are idle. The only module that comprises the output audio formats available for this tool is 'General audio'. What is more, it seems that a series of video editing features were missed to be disabled. Surprisingly, cropping, adding special effects and watermarks on videos are active options, although you are dealing with an application that extracts audio. Still, what makes this program great is its audio trimming capabilities. Most programs allow you to cut a single segment from a file, but with FLAC MP3 Converter you cat slice it into as many fragments as you want, and then merge them into one file.
The program runs well and the extraction process produces good results. The fact that it is available for free makes it a good alternative for home users who just need a simple tool to transform media files into audio tracks for playback on audio players or portable devices.
