Play a wide range of audio and video files on your Mac. Import media files in MKV, AVI, FLV, MP4, MP3, AVCHD, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, and dozens of other popular formats. Watch movies with 1080P, 4K, 5K and 8K resolution. Take snapshots of your favorite scenes and save them as PNG images.

Cisdem Video Player supports playback of audio and video files. In this respect, it allows playing an impressively long list of about 50 video formats, such as MKV, AVI, FLV, AVCHD and WMV, which makes installing separate codec packages unnecessary. Moreover, the application seamlessly plays high-definition video of up to 5K.

There is not much to say about the app’s interface as it looks as minimalistic as many other modern players. Most of the space in the window is devoted to displaying the output video, and playback controls automatically appear when you hover the mouse over it. Besides, you can use hotkey combinations instead of using the buttons. Luckily, it lets you take snapshots of your favorite frames and save them in PNG format.

Good news is that, when a video contains various audio or subtitle streams, you can pick the ones you want to view. Likewise, in the case of subtitles, you can load them from external files (ASS and SRT). Regretfully, however, it cannot do so automatically, even if the subtitle file has the same name as the movie.

All in all, Cisdem Video Player supports lots of formats, including high-definition ones. Inexplicably, I was unlucky that it did not allow viewing a large MKV movie when I tried it. The product is free to use. Moreover, you can use it to convert between movie formats if you acquire the conversion feature, available as an in-app purchase.
