Boxer is a very nice DOS emulator for the Mac. It emulates DOS perfectly and it allows you to play old DOS games and execute applications just as if you had an old DOS computer.

The app was built with gaming in mind. There is a library that gets filled with the games that you add. But it is not for gaming only. It emulates the DOS operating system perfectly, so I don't think you may have any problem doing anything you would do on a DOS computer.

When you launch Boxer, you will notice three buttons in its main window: Import a new game, Open a DOS prompt and Browse your Games. I have been feeling the urge to play an old game lately. It is called Constructor and it was released on DOS. I clicked on "Import a new game" and dragged the game folder. The app took care of the rest and it only asked me to finish installing and it gave me the necessary instructions for it. After that, I clicked on the game in the library and I started playing. Just like that. There were no complicated or lengthy installation processes. The game worked perfectly and I could even use my mouse. There was sound and all.

If you simply want to work on a DOS prompt, you can launch one and knock yourself out. You can also launch games that way.

In short, Boxer is a great DOS emulator for the Mac. It works like a charm and it helps a lot when you have nostalgic urges.
