Batman Arkham Asylum is a third-person action game. It was released on Windows, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Mac OS X platforms.
This game has lots of different elements that make it really great. It mixes action and adventure very well. Above all, you have to scan every scene thoroughly using your detective skills and all the gadgetry at your hands to figure out what your best moves are. I like that this game didn't settle for action sequences and neat graphics. There are tons of difficult situations that you have to overcome by using Batman's senses. Thankfully the game does a great job of explaining what every gadget does and how to use them, so you won't feel lost at all.
Graphics are great, even on the Mac. The action sequences are perhaps the best I have seen in a video game. Although they are somewhat automatic, they are still great to look at.
In terms of performance, I noticed that the game runs a bit slow at times. I am using a Mac with integrated Intel graphics, so that is probably why it is so. Still, even at max resolution, the slow-downs were only occasional.
Pros
- Great action sequences
- Interesting story
- Good controls
Cons
- It doesn't run too well on integrated graphics
