Info updated on:

Audacity is an open source utility designed to help you record and edit audio files on your Mac. The program is packed with a wide range of sound editing options, supports various audio and video formats, and gives you access to high-quality output files in no time.

This tool might come in handy if you want to record an audiobook, extract audio content from a video, improve a sound file by removing unneeded content, etc. Every editing tool comes with its own set of settings which can easily be configured even by a beginner Mac user.

Furthermore, Audacity helps you analyze sound files thanks to the integrated spectrogram tool. With its help, you can visualize and easily select frequencies from the imported audio files.

Another important advantage is that the program features a long list of sound effects which come in handy if you want to easily apply Fade In and Fade Out effects to audio files, repair a sound recording, remove vocals from a song, etc.

To be honest, there's nothing bad that can be said about this audio editor. It's feature-rich, works 100%, comes with easy-to-configure editing settings, and is free. You should definitely give it a try if you're looking for an efficient audio editing tool.
